Who we are
The Hummingbird Project is an independent and registered Community Interest Company. The Project aims to support people who have suffered from or are suffering from mental ill health, focusing on recovery and resilience . We work to improve people’s mental health, life circumstances and reduce associated stigma within Northern Ireland and beyond. Our company number is NI636982 and a list of our directors can be found on the Companies House website.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
This website take a proactive approach to user privacy and ensure the necessary steps are taken to protect the privacy of its users throughout their visiting experience. This website complies with all UK national laws and requirements for user privacy.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
Users contacting this website and/or its owners do so at their own discretion and provide any such personal details requested at their own risk. Your personal information is kept private and stored securely until a time it is no longer required or has no use, as detailed in the Data Protection Act 1998. Every effort has been made to ensure a safe and secure form to email submission process but advise users using such form to email processes that they do so at their own risk.
The Hummingbird Project team take your right to confidentiality very seriously. Given the nature of mental health and the need for trust, we undertake to never share anything you tell us without your permission. There are some exceptions to this which are as follows:
- where there is serious risk of harm to you or to others, especially if a child is involved
- where there is risk of a crime being committed by you or to you
- where you have become very unwell or incapacitated and we are required to contact your GP or mental health professional

How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
